I DID IT!

 
Well...after much studying, test taking, and image submission, I CAN SCRATCH NUMBER 10 OFF MY LIST!  If you read my "Year of New" post, then you are aware I have created a list of personal/business goals for the year.  Number 10 was to "Get my CPP Designation".

I received my letter from the PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC CERTIFICATION COMMISSION confirming that I have met the rigorous requirements measuring my artistic and technical competence and I am now officially a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER! YAY!!!

I have been working as a professional photographer for many years. Therefore, much of the material I had to study was review as well as a whole lot of super technical information (lots of brain cramps). But I can say without a doubt that I have gained a much deeper understanding and also was refreshed on many of the things I have learned over the years.  This experience also made me take a new look at my own work and style. And because of that, I realized that I had lost a part of my true identity as an artist. I feel this year will also be a "year of new" in my images.  But in actuality, it will be more like a blend of my old and new artistic self.  I expect positive growth ahead.

Personally it feels good to know that this milestone achievement has put me in a select group of less than 2,000 other photographers world wide. There are now about 22,000 members of The Professional Photographers of America and many thousands more that have never submitted their work for the review and approval of a professional organization.

I still have 10 remaining items left on my list; I will have to update you on my progress in another post.

The Power of Passion Tour

I just returned from attending this amazing event in Raleigh, NC. WOW!!! Where do I begin?

First let me say, that I would have driven farther and paid more for the privilege of hearing these two amazing speakers share so many life changing, awe inspiring stories, images and ideas with me.  The night was a roller coaster ride of laughter and tears.

Sandy Puc' and Jerry Ghionis are both amazing people with amazing hearts! Sandy kept us laughing with her WILD & CRAZY wedding day fiasco stories and shared her heart about charitable giving, along with practical tips on networking & marketing. She was a delight and an inspiration. She is an outstanding photographic artist, author, business woman and person.

Jerry Ghionis is a Master Photographer and is the only Australian named as one of the Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo magazine. He has also won WPPI's wedding album of the year 1st & second place for 7 years in a row.  His charming Australian accent, profound communication skills, and comedic humor was just the icing on the many layers of creative goodness that was yet to be revealed. Every image was a show stopper executed using extreme creative, technical and emotional skills. His humble & genuine character was refreshing to say the least. He's the type of person you want to follow around like a loyal puppy, just hoping some of his awesomeness will rub off on you.  I will forever be changed by his increditable insights & images. I am a better person. A better photographer. More in-love with the world!

This multi-city tour continues through April 11th.  I would recommend making every effort to attend The Power of Passion Tour, you won't be disappointed!
